This is why I think β€œdefensible AI music startup” is the wrong phrase unless we specify the layer. Many AI products in music are easy to demo and hard to defend. Search infrastructure is the opposite: hard to build, sometimes understated in presentation, but much more structurally durable if done well.

The strongest moat in this category comes from building the system other products depend on.

It is worth addressing the generative comparison directly, because investors and journalists often collapse these categories into a single β€œAI music” bucket. That flattening hides what is strategically important.
